Workshop

Stories We Live By: Land, Culture, and Climate

Led by Grace Estes · Indiana University

About this workshop

The stories we tell about the natural world shape how we understand and interact with it. Through folklore, cultural narratives, art and environmental movements, students will explore how different communities understand their relationships with land and whose stories have historically been heard or erased. The workshop will examine how reclaiming and retelling these stories can challenge dominant narratives and become a powerful form of environmental advocacy.

You’ll read short excerpts and discuss how including more perspectives makes coverage more complete and accurate.
